This past Saturday August 24th, at approximately 8AM the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department Fast Team was requested to assist the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department at a 3 Alarm structure fire in the Half Moon Bay Condo Complex on the Hudson River. Once members arrived on scene we teamed up with members of the Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD Fast Team and the Bedford Hills Fire Department Fast Team to provide support to firefighters already operating on the scene.
The purpose of a Fast Team being dispatched to a working fire is to provide other departments with a specialized team in case of an emergency such as a firefighter mayday call or other related incidents.
There was roughly about 15 departments on scene throughout the call with many departments backfilling the companies on scene. Great work done by all and it was a pleasure working with the departments we normally do not have the opportunity to work with such as the Montrose Fire Dept, Tarrytown Fire Department, Verplanck Fire Department, Buchanan Eng Co., Ossining Fire Department, Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Croton On Hudson Emergency Medical Services, Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Sleepy Hollow FD - NY, Millwood Fire, Somers Volunteer Fire Department, Thornwood Fire Department, Pocantico Hills Fire Department, Valhalla Fire Department, and whoever else we might have missed.
