On Tuesday June 17th, the PVVFD Officers and Members continued their training on important Search & Rescue skills. Teams of interior and exterior members had the opportunity to perform a search of a two-floor building in full gear, SCBA packs and tools in hand. While others worked on their ladder skills of pulling them off the truck, setting them up and providing stability for those working their way up and into the second floor of the building.

Each team went through the process of entering the building from the 2nd story window and performed the search to locate a “mock” down firefighter. They learned the techniques of search, locating and packaging the firefighter, who is in full turnout gear with SCBA pack. Working as a team, they brought the firefighter to the window so he can be carried safely down the ladder. This is a skill that can never be practiced too much and can save a life.

Newer members were also able to practice their skills as well, with the guidance of an officer, providing instructions along the way.

Drivers ran through drafting and pump operations, ensuring to hone their skills on this important aspect of fire operations.
