On Wednesday, July 7th at approximately 6:50PM the Putnam Valley Fire Department was dispatched to a multi-vehicle accident on the Taconic State Parkway occurring in the north bound lane just south of the Peekskill Hollow Rd exit. New York State Police and Empress EMS were passing by south bound at the time and were the first responders on location. They began the initial triage of the incident. The State Police on scene advised incoming Fire and EMS units to approach traveling south in the north bound lanes due the heavy volume of traffic in the north bound lane blocking access to the scene. 24-1-1(Chief of the Department), Engine 24-2-1 along with Putnam Medic 2 arrived on scene shortly after. The south bound lanes were closed for a short period of time by our Fire Police team for safety and removal of debris in the road way. 24-1-1 requested two additional Ambulances to handle the number of patients requesting medical evaluation and assistance. This brought a second Ambulance from Putnam Valley VAC and Philipstown VAC. Luckily, all injuries were minor in nature. Fire Department personnel remained on the scene until all EMS agencies transported their patients. The scene was then turned over to the NYSP. Fire units cleared at approximately 8:30PM.
