As we all began another work week, Members of the Putnam Valley Fire Department had a very busy Monday - August 23rd.

Shortly before 2:30PM the Putnam Valley Fire Department F.A.S.T. Team was dispatched to assist the Continental Village Vol. Fire Department for a working fire on Dogwood Road in Cortlandt Manor.
Putnam Valley’s rescue 24-6-1 responded with a crew of F.A.S.T certified firefighters shortly after original dispatch meeting 24-DC-10 at the scene.

While our F.A.S.T. Team was operating in the Village, a little after 4PM members responded to Boswell Road for a generator on fire near a house. Members operated on Boswell for a short amount of time and returned to service with minor issues.

As members were returning to quarters from Boswell, they were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident, car versus tree, on Canopus Hollow Road in the area of Fawn Run. As members arrived on scene they closed Canopus Hollow Road to provide a safe working scene and the driver was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

At approximately 9pm, members responded to a multi car accident on the TSP, which consisted of impacted cars on both the north and south bound side of the parkway. Multiple ambulances were needed for the occupants, Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps
Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Department, Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department & Kent Fire Department.

Units operated on the TSP for approximately 3 hours due to the extent of the two accidents and both our F.A.S.T team and engine 24-2-1 both went back in service with minutes of each other before 1am.

Once members cleared from Canopus Hollow Road, our F.A.S.T was released from the Village. The trucks all returned from the previous incidents, members began to clean and refuel all tools and equipment used on prior incidents.

Thank you to all the members who came out for the multiple calls and work through the process of getting the trucks back in service.
