Yesterday, September 24th at approximately 10:30 AM the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a single car motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment on Wood Street.

Upon arrival, members discovered a car struck a tree and the driver, the only occupant, had their legs pinned beneath the dashboard. This situation required rescuers to utilize the jaws of life as well as the hydraulic cutters to free the patient who was then transferred into the care of EMS.

Due to the extent of damage to the vehicle and the potential for serious injury, Life Net Air 2 was dispatched and landed on the Bryant Pond Overpass above the TSP. Life Net transported the victim via helicopter to Westchester Medical Center.

Our firefighters worked alongside members from Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance, Putnam County Sheriffs Department, EMStar Medics and Putnam County Battalion 16.
