8/19 - Tanker Over-turns on Peekskill Hollow Road

Monday 8/19, at approx. 1pm, the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a tanker trunk with reported entrapment that went off the road way and overturned spilling approximately 3000 gallons of asphalt emulsion which leaked into the stream on Peekskill Hollow Road. The incident required a multi agency response and mutual aide from several agencies. Operating on scene with the Putnam Valley Fire Department was the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services Hazmat Team, Westchester County Hazmat Team, Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Fire Department Hazmat Team, NY DEC , New York State Environmental Conservation Police, New York State Fire. A special thanks to Kent Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Department, Continental Village Vol. Fire Department and Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD for providing mutual aide in town to cover any other alarms while we have been operating for over 11 hours at this scene.
