On Saturday - July 25th - PVVFD responded to a call for a sick person stranded on the Appalachian Trail. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a 65 year old male, who had been camping in the area, severely dehydrated. Rescuers had to utilize special trail ready apparatus and were able to extracted the victim from the woods for transport by an awaiting ambulance.
