PVVFD Responds to Structure Fire on May 24th

On Sunday - May 24th at 8:25pm - The Putnam Valley Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire off Barger Street. Upon arrival, Officers and crew encountered a fully engulfed structure fire to a large two-story residence as well as several explosions from the owner's vehicle and propane tanks.
Lake Mohegan's Fast Team was called to scene, as well as Kent & Mahopac Falls to provide water tankers, In addition, the Putnam Valley Ambulance Corp. was on scene to provide for any emergency medical service, County Car 11 responded and The Mahopac Falls Fire Department was on standby to provide any further assistance if need be.

We utilized Fire apparatus to pump water from a hydrant system as well as "shuttle" water to the scene to support the Fire crews working to extinguish this blaze.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured.

An Excavator was brought in to assist with ensuring that any debris was properly removed from the foundation, while firefighter's watered down the smoldering debris.

The fire was deemed out and safe to wrap up at the scene at approximately 2:30am Monday morning. All members then reported back to Station 2 to rack hose, check the trucks and equipment to ensure all was cleaned and returned to service ready status, which was completed at approximately 4am - 5/25.
