PVFD held their open house for the community on Sunday, October 12th. There were several areas setup within the firehouse that provided useful information for the public. Child identification registration was available, Bureau of Emergency Services talked about how they investigate fires to determine cause and Fire Police were on hand to talk about how they assist with traffic control on a fire or accident scene. Fire safety pamphlets were available for the public along with a raffle for several smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.

There were coloring books, fire helmets, pencil cases and balloons for the kids along with hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks and cookies on hand for all who attended.

The members put on two demonstrations for the public - The first team cut up a vehicle as if there were victims trapped inside, while Chief Keeler explained to the crowd what the team was doing and why.

The second demonstration was a car fire - A van was set on fire and a team of fire fighters extinguish the flames (with a backup team on standby). This is always a crowd favorite for kids and adults alike.

Thank you to all the members who supported this event by attending work details, setup on Sunday and stayed for the cleanup detail.

None of this is possible without your commitment and support.
