Structure Fire - Thursday April 1st.

Thursday, April 1st at approximately 7:30 PM the Putnam Valley Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on Peekskill Hollow Road. Upon arrival, responding firefighters discovered a large outdoor firewood storage building and adjacent furnace fully engulfed in flames and threatening to possibly spread to the nearby residence and also infringing upon the roadway itself. Saturday afternoon Brush Fire

On Saturday, March 20th, Putnam Valley responded to Peekskill Hollow Road for a reported brush fire behind a residence. Upon arrival, the fire had made it's way up the hill and along the backside as well. There were two dwellings in the area that were not impacted, as the department and mutual aid companies were able to create the fire line and drive the fire away from the homes.

Putnam Valley Tackles Large Brush Fire

On Saturday, March 13th, The Putnam Valley Vol Fire Department responded to a call for smell of smoke in the area of Peekskill Hollow Road and the Taconic State Parkway. Upon further investigation, the initial team of firefighters discovered a working brush fire making its way up the power lines, spreading quickly with the gusts of wind hitting upwards of 20-30mph. Sunday, February 28, 2021 members of the Putnam Valley Fire Department took advantage of the remaining ice at Carrara’s Beach in Lake Peekskill and trained on Ice/Cold water rescues. Although we fortunately do not get many incidents involving this type of rescue, we take every opportunity to train and maintain our proficiencies with these skills and techniques.
