At approximately 5:55pm last night, the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department was requested to respond to a reported vehicle fire on Laurel Rd. in the Lake Peekskill section of town. Upon arrival, firefighters observed a smoking vehicle on the side of the road. The vehicles owner told firefighters that he had extinguished the fire prior to their arrival using a fire extinguisher along with snow. Units wet down the dashboard and engine compartment with another fire extinguisher and cleared the scene shortly after.
